Mini Cooper transmission issues

The first generation Mini was the most notorious model for transmission issues. The clutch has been known to fail in under 20,000 miles and usually was blamed on rough driving. This model of Mini was the center of a lawsuit, which caused the company to cover transmission costs on vehicles with an 8-year warranty or when 150,000 miles were driven.

On top of being a terrible design, the company also recommended that the fluid does not need to be changed at all or very infrequently. This added to the issues of the transmission failing.

If you’re the owner of a Mini Cooper and you’re feeling your transmission slip or acting like it’s about to fail, come and see us at Independent Auto Care for a consultation.
