- The materials they are made of. Brake pads can be semi-metallic, ceramic, or organic – each with their own likely lifespan.
- Hardness – or, if you prefer, softness. These feel different in the pedal, but the key is the level of friction each applies.
- Location – the level and type of countryside or urban driving, or both, can also affect the longevity of your brakes. How you actually drive your vehicle, in any location, will also have an effect.
