3 common fuel injector problems

Fuel injectors are tasked with delivering the exact amount of gasoline required for effective combustion. Here are three things that can get in the way of this…

  1. Injector doesn’t open – can be caused by rust or a broken spring. Gasoline can then leak; you might well smell this problem
  2. Clogging – often by dust, debris or rust again. Your injectors can’t then supply enough gas to the intake manifold
  3. Excessive dirt – this can be fuel additive residue which burns and becomes crusty, often reducing effective output
